Packing and unpacking files are very useful features to upload and download multiple files and folders between your local system and the WebDesktop.
Instead of creating a directory then upload files, create sub directory etc, just pack your directory and send your archive, the WebDesktop will unpack it for you and you'll gain time and bandwith.
After you've uploaded an archive, just double click (or double tap) on it and you'll be prompted to select the destination and some options :
Archive format supported : Zip, Rar, 7z, Gzip, Tar with or without password protection.
After selection of files or directory just right click (or touch with two fingers) to call the context menu and select "Send to"->"Compressed folder"
- Then type the archive name without extension.
- Select the archive format : Zip, 7z, Gzip, Tar and the compression level (the operation will take more time depending it).
- If you want to protect your archive with a password, just type it in the "Password" field.
- Select your destination in the tree below and click on "Ok".
Storage consideration :
Before you pack or unpack a huge archive, beware of the free space available.
If you upload a 15 GB archive to the WebDesktop, as your storage is limited to 20GB by default, you'll not be able to unpack it.
Same if you try to pack 5 GB and you just have 1GB of free space.
You can check your free space simply by clicking on "Computer" in the explorer window .
The free space is indicated under each drive, and your storage is shown as "Local disk (c:)"
