The Turbulence node is a procedural noise texture which is versatile and can be utilized within a shading network to create a wide variety of effects. Figure 1 shows a the result of turbulence texture connected to the diffuse input of an Octane material.
Figure 1 : A Turbulence texture is connected to the Diffuse channel of an Octane material.
Turbulence Texture Parameters
Controls the overall brightness of the texture
Controls the values of the fractal pattern.
Controls the amount of detail in the texture
Controls the detail in the underlying fractal pattern
Accepts an Octane Transform node which can be used to change the scale of the noise
Accepts an Octane projection node which determines how the noise is mapped to the surface. If left blank the object's UV texture coordinates determine the mapping.
Toggles on or off the overlaying fractal pattern.
Reverses the turbulence values.
Adjust the luminance values of the fractal pattern.
Figure 2 shows the result of a Turbulence texture connected to an Octane Glossy material that has been applied to a deformed plane. Figure 3 shows a graph of the network. The size of the Turbulence texture has been determined by a Scale transform node. The Turbulence is connected to the bump channel through an Octane Multiply texture. The Multiply texture is used to increase the bump intensity, the Turbulence texture is multiplied with a Float texture that is set to a value of 5. The Multiply texture passes through an Octane Invert texture before it is connected to the bump channel of the material.
The same Turbulence texture controls the amount value of an Octane Mix texture that mixes a red and orange RGB Spectrum texture nodes and is then connected to the diffuse channel of the Octane Glossy material.
Finally the same Turbulence texture is connected to the roughness channel of the Octane Glossy material.
Figure 2 : A deformed plane is rendered using an Octane Glossy material. The material has a turbulence texture affecting its diffuse, bump, and roughness channels.
Figure 3 : A graph of the Octane Glossy material applied to the deformed plane. The Turbulence texture passes through a number of Octane texture nodes before being connected to various channels of the Glossy material.
