One RNDR Token or RNDR Credit is mapped to a unit of work called OctaneBench http://octanebench.com. Users select from preferences for speed, cost, system hardware, node reputation, and security - and the amount of OctaneBench compute work varies based on a user’s preferences as well as aggregate GPU supply and demand on the network. These preferences are organized into three tiers: Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3. Multi-tier pricing operates using a multiplier attached to the OctaneBench algorithm. Tier 1 work has an OctaneBench multiplier of 1, Tier 2 has a multiplier that varies between 2 - 4X (thus, an artist will receive 2-4x more OB work at Tier 2 when compared to Tier 1), and Tier 3 has a multiplier of 8-16X vs Tier 1.
For Tier 1: 1 RNDR Token = 25 x OB4 * HR making a €1 of RNDR Credit = 100 x OB4 * HR.
More details about RNDR pricing can be found in the RNDR User Manual.
Estimating Job Costs
Users can estimate a job cost by using OctaneBench benchmarking tests. Thanks to RNDR's linear scaling, estimates are easy to figure out. All that is needed is to find out your OctaneBench score and render a scene on your local machine. Once you have done that you can get a pretty accurate sense of the time and cost of your job with some simple multiplication. Please keep in mind that estimates only reflect the rendering costs and do not include processing times. For additonal questions about job costs, please email email@example.com
You can purchase RNDR Credits using PayPal and Stripe in the RNDR Portal at rndr.otoy.com. Please see the RNDR Medium page for more information as more payment providers are added to the network.
